Getting to know William Scambler…

By Clare Barker Wells

At just 21, William Scambler is already an invaluable member of the Ray White Lower North Shore Group, where he recently celebrated his two-year anniversary. He’s a bit of a local “celebrity”, known to many in the Lower North Shore through his various jobs, sporting teams and as a Shore alumnus. With his infectious smile and enthusiasm, it’s no wonder after a short work experience stint, Sales Assistant William became a permanent part of the Ray White Lower North Shore Group team. Let’s get to know him…

So William, do you live in the Lower North Shore?

I live in Mosman. I’ve lived here my whole life.

What do you love about living in the Lower North Shore?

My favourite place is the beach at Balmoral. I love to go for a run at Clifton Gardens too.

Where’s your favourite place to go for a feed?

Sushi Train…always.

How many years have you worked with the Urban Living Team?

I have worked with Jake and Chris for 12 months, wait no, it’s been two years. Time has flown!

Time flies when you’re having fun! Why do you love being part of this team?

I think this team is cool, they are my family. Chris is a nice guy and a bit funny although he needs new material! Jake is the best wingman a guy could have. He works hard and is cool.

As a Sales Assistant, what does a typical day look like for you?

Each day is different. Tuesday, I work with the Property Management team and on Wednesday I am with Chris and Jake in the Strata Specialist team. But Thursday is my favourite day, it’s auction day!

Why is auction day your favourite?

It’s exciting and I get to wear my suit, a name tag and talk to everyone. I also get to wear my suit at open homes.

So you love open homes too? Walk us through your role at an open home.

Yes, the best thing about open homes is getting to meet lots of people. Sometimes I know them, or they know me from school.

I usually wait at the front of the property to welcome buyers and show them where the apartment is. Sometimes I have to take them up the lift and direct them where to go. I also hand out Jake or Chris’s card and a brochure which includes the property details.

What’s your top tip for a successful open home?

A big smile and a warm welcome!

What do you love about working? And do you have other jobs?

I love working because I love being part of a team. I have worked in a shop selling clothes for over three years and had an office job where I scan things and do paperwork. I’m also about to start a new job at the Taronga Zoo, I can’t wait!

You sound very busy! What do you do in your spare time (if you have any)?

I am part of the Special Olympics. I am on the soccer, basketball and swimming teams. Soccer is more powerful so it’s my favourite. I train on Wednesday nights.

I assume you love sport. Do you have a favourite code or team you follow?

I like AFL the most. The Richmond Tigers are my team. If you ask me about Rugby League, my team is Melbourne Storm. I love to talk about any kind of sport and discuss the results with my team at work.

Describe your ideal weekend?

Spending time with my parents and two brothers – Tom and Harry.
