The Resident, Peter Papas

By Kyrenia Blanshard

Mosman resident Peter Papas owns the bustling Greek eatery Kazzi Beach Greek on Balmoral Beach. Kazzi draws its inspiration from the Greek island of Kastellorizo (“Kazzi”). It’s a homage to Peter’s heritage, his passion for Greek food, and his community.

He shares his local favourites with us and why he loves the area.

How long have you lived here and why did you choose Mosman?
I have lived here for 20 years. It struck me as the ideal place for work and play. It was very much a lifestyle choice with an emphasis on family and community.

Best thing about Mosman?
Its natural amenity and beauty.

Worst thing?
Parking!

What’s your favourite café/restaurant, besides your own?
I love my local pub, The Buena.

Best coffee in the area?
I have to say Kazzi. We have invested so much into our coffee offering and barista training. It’s a true boutique offering from the Australian owned, niche roaster, Pablo and Rusty’s.

Where do you like to have a drink?
I like to go East and have a change of scenery every now and then, otherwise it’s my local Pub.

Any local hidden gems you’d be kind enough to share with us?
Kazzi Beach Greek of course! Where else can you visit and truly feel you have been transported to an island in the Aegean?

What’s your favourite room at home and why?
The kitchen because it’s where the two of the most valued spices of life exist, food and wine.

What’s your perfect weekend?
Friday night footy match, Saturday, dine and wine, Sunday, swim and chill.

If you had to live anywhere else in Sydney or the World, where would it be?
Kastellorizo, Greece (Kazzi!)

Kazzi Beach Greek is open seven days a week, 7am till late.
